2025 NFL CB PROSPECTS

CB 1 TRAVIS HUNTER/ COLORADO/ TOP 10
Pros: Superstar, Versatility, long, IQ

Cons: Tackling, Physicality, weight

Archetype: Man/Zone

Comparison: Champ Bailey

Scouting Report: Travis Hunter is a unicorn. Playing quality snaps at both WR and DB, the 2024 heisman made his impact felt. His versatility is intriguing, but purely evaluation as a Cornerback, he has many traits that make him a high value prospect. He is super long, a fluid mover in space, and shows the speed to match Wide Receivers hips in phase. He was a leader and seems to have a good personality as far as intangibles go. Of course his biggest area of improvement will need to be his tackling, physicality and his willingness to pursue the ball. He is a liability in the run game, but as a pure man/zone corner he can do it as well as anybody.

CB 2 JAHDAE BARRON/ TEXAS/ MID 1ST
Pros: Disciplined eyes, Breaking on ball, Durability

Cons: Height, tackling,

Archetype: Zone

Comparison: Tyrann Matheiu

Scouting Report: Jahdae Barron is a speedy DB that is versatile enough to play all over the field, but he projects as a nickel corner or safety. He has good eyes, is a high volume tackler and finds a way to make a break on the ball when it is in the air. His height is average, he doesn’t play a lot of press and his footwork could use some work. Playing in a strong SEC conference gave him opportunities to play against good WRs. I like him as a late 1st round option that contributes on defense and special teams. I think he can get a shot at the outside corner, but if things don’t work out there he could get moved inside or in the back end.

Pros: Long, Speed, Tackling

Cons: Injury History,

Archetype: Balanced

Comparison: Jaycee Horn

Scouting Report: Will Johnson is a technically sound cornerback that demonstrates the ability to play man and zone. He is a long cornerback and his 4.38 speed allows him to run with anybody. He has smooth hips and a good awareness of reading the Quarterback. He is aggressive coming down to tackle, but he is not a high volume tackler, specifically if it is a 1v1 situation. His durability and injury this season are concerns, but he should be able to bounce back from that and be a great CB option in this year's draft.

Pros: Long, Smooth Hips, Press, Instincts

Cons: Speed, aggressiveness, Man

Archetype: Zone

Comparison: Greg Newsome

Scouting Report: Trey Amos is a long corner with good instincts. His technique allows him to bail or press on wide receivers. He had smooth hips that are good for redirecting towards the flight of the ball and adjusting to the route of the receiver. He did run a 4.43 40, but his tape shows him being a step slow at times. He can tackle fairly well, but he isn’t a big time hitter when it comes to being physical or contact. I think Trey Amos has some tangible qualities that make him an appealing CB option in this draft, although he is far from a finished project. I don’t think he has a all pro level ceiling, but he can contribute and start on a defense that will take advantage of his zone coverage skills.

Pros: Fast, Aggressive,

Cons: Injury, Durability,

Archetype: Zone

Comparison: Emmanuel Forbes

Scouting Report: Maxwell Hairston is a high risk high reward type player that will take chances on being aggressive on making plays on the ball. He has some amazing flashes of zone and man coverage snaps. He is long, has the ability to jump and knock the ball down. He is blazing fast, running a 4.28 40 time at the combine. He has durability concerns after missing almost half the season with a shoulder injury. He is also a low volume tackler and can be quick to draw a yellow flag with his hands on play. His ceiling is one of the best CBs in this class and grows into a lockdown defender at the NFL level. His floor is a developing CB2 that can be a special teams player, that doesn’t live up to his physical potential because he can’t stay healthy or he continues to commit too many penalties and give up too many big plays.

Pros: Height, length,

Cons: Injury,

Archetype: Man

Comparison: Tariq Woolen

Scouting Report: Shavon Revel is a raw DB prospect that showed flashes of CB1 potential before being out for the season with a knee injury. He is extremely long, has really speed, and plays the ball in the air. He has the physical tools to be a really good CB in the NFL, he just needs to refine them with good coaching and the right system. I like him as a day two prospect, the biggest thing is seeing how he can adjust to being out for a year and going from the mid major to the NFL level.
