Caleb Lomu

NFL Draft Profile: Caleb Lomu

Position: Offensive Tackle | School: Utah | Class: Redshirt Sophomore

Height: 6'6" | Weight: 308 lbs | Archetype: Pass Blocker (Zone Slide)

College Career Summary

Caleb Lomu is a high-pedigree "technician" whose rapid development at Utah made him a cornerstone of the Utes' offensive line. A former four-star recruit, Lomu redshirted in 2023 but quickly seized the starting Left Tackle job as a redshirt freshman in 2024. His emergence allowed the coaching staff to move Spencer Fano to Right Tackle, creating one of the most stable bookend pairings in the country.

His 2025 season was a defensive end's nightmare. Lomu allowed zero sacks and only eight pressures across more than 350 pass-blocking snaps. His performance earned him First-Team All-Big 12 honors and a reputation as one of the best pure pass protectors in the 2026 draft class. On December 16, 2025, Lomu officially declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, opting to forgo his remaining eligibility after cementing his status as a potential first-round pick.

Scouting Report

  • Strengths: Elite lateral agility and mirroring skills; zero sacks allowed in 2025; technically advanced hand usage and timing; highly intelligent in recognizing blitz structures; young prospect with high physical upside.

  • Weaknesses: Needs to add "functional mass" to handle NFL bull-rushers (currently 308 lbs); occasionally "waist-bends" in the run game; doesn't possess the "mauler" strength of someone like Francis Mauigoa.

  • Scheme Fit: Ideal for a Zone-Heavy or West Coast system that prioritizes movement and pass protection (e.g., 49ers, Dolphins, Packers).

  • NFL Comparison: Andre Dillard / Kolton Miller.

Scout's Final Word

"Caleb Lomu is the 'Pass Pro Specialist' of the 2026 class. While he may not displace defenders in the run game with raw power yet, his ability to neutralize edge speed is elite. His footwork is as clean as any tackle prospect we've seen in recent years. In a pass-heavy NFL, a young, durable, and technically sound blindside protector is gold. Draft Projection: 1st Round (Mid-to-Late)."
