Raleek Brown

NFL Draft Profile: Raleek Brown

Position: Running Back / Wide Receiver | School: Arizona State (via USC) | Class: Redshirt Junior

Height: 5'9" | Weight: 195 lbs | Archetype: Elusive / Receiving Back

College Career Summary

Raleek Brown entered the college ranks as one of the most electric high school prospects in the country. After a promising true freshman season at USC (2022) where he contributed as a dual-threat weapon, he faced a difficult sophomore campaign that saw him transition to wide receiver before redshirting. Seeking a fresh start and a return to the backfield, he transferred to Arizona State for the 2024 season, which was unfortunately cut short by a nagging hamstring injury.

The 2025 season was Brown's true collegiate arrival. Following an injury to de-facto starter Kyson Brown in Week 2, Raleek was thrust into the RB1 role and never looked back. He became the centerpiece of Kenny Dillingham’s offense, recording the 29th 1,000-yard rushing season in program history and leading the Sun Devils to a successful Big 12 debut. He capped his regular season with a historic 255-yard performance against Colorado before declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft in December.

Scouting Grade Rubric

Intangibles (.20) — Grade: 88/100

  • Leadership: Leads by explosive playmaking; matured significantly after transfer.

  • Mental Toughness: Overcame a lost 2024 season due to hamstring issues to become an All-Big 12 performer.

  • Competitor: Plays with a "small back" chip on his shoulder; always looking for the end zone.

  • Team Player: Praised by coaches for handling the heavy workload without complaint.

  • Star Power: One of the most dynamic players in the Big 12; a threat to score every touch.

Physical Tools (.20) — Grade: 80/100

  • Height/Weight: 5'9", 195 lbs. (Below the 5'10"/215lb targets).

  • Stamina: Surprising; handled 180+ carries after concerns about his "gadget" label.

  • Durability: Stayed healthy for the full 2025 season after a medical redshirt in 2024.

  • Injury History: Hamstring injury in 2024 is the primary medical concern for scouts.

Attributes (.20) — Grade: 92/100

  • Ball Security: Excellent. Only 2 fumbles on 220+ touches in 2025.

  • Vision: Elite. Navigates traffic with rare instinct; finds cutback lanes others miss.

  • Contact Balance: Good for his size; uses low center of gravity to slip through arm tackles.

  • Catching: Elite. Former WR experience shows; natural hands and route-running ability.

  • Pass Block: Underestimated; technically sound but size limits his effectiveness against NFL-sized blitzers.

Athleticism (.20) — Grade: 96/100

  • Speed: Elite. Verified game-breaking speed; tracked as one of the fastest players in the Big 12.

  • Agility: Exceptional. Ability to "stop-start" makes him a nightmare in space.

  • Change of Direction: Explosive. Can plant and change lanes without losing speed.

  • Acceleration: Top-tier. Reaches his top gear within three steps.

  • Break Tackle: Uses suddenness and lateral twitch rather than power to evade defenders.

IQ (.20) — Grade: 94/100

  • Awareness: High football IQ; understands spacing and defensive leverage perfectly.

NFL Scouting Report

  • Strengths: World-class speed and acceleration; elite-tier receiving background; game-breaking vision; versatile "offensive weapon" profile; proven durability in 2025.

  • Weaknesses: Undersized frame (195 lbs) may prevent a "bell-cow" role in the NFL; history of hamstring issues; limited effectiveness as a pure power/goal-line runner.

  • Scheme Fit: Ideal for Outside Zone or Spread offenses that prioritize speed in space (e.g., Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles).

  • NFL Comparison: Jahmyr Gibbs / Kyren Williams.

Scout's Final Word

"Raleek Brown is the ultimate modern-day 'mismatch' back. After years of being labeled a gadget player, his 2025 season at Arizona State proved he can handle 15-20 touches a game while maintaining high efficiency. His vision is his best-kept secret, but his speed is what will get him drafted early. In a league chasing the next Christian McCaffrey or Jahmyr Gibbs, Brown’s dual-threat tape is gold. Projected: Round 2–3."
