Whit Weeks

NFL Draft Profile: Whit Weeks

Position: Linebacker | School: LSU | Class: Junior

Height: 6'2" | Weight: 225 lbs | Archetype: Coverage / Hybrid

College Career Summary

Whit Weeks arrived at LSU as a highly-touted four-star recruit from Georgia and quickly established himself as a "stat-sheet stuffer." After an impressive freshman campaign where he led all LSU freshmen in tackles, he took a massive leap in 2024 following the injury to Harold Perkins. Weeks finished his sophomore season as a First-Team All-SEC selection, racking up a staggering 125 tackles (2nd in the SEC). Known for his high-octane play style and "first to the ball" mentality, Weeks became a fan favorite for his 18-tackle performance against Ole Miss. Entering 2025, he transitioned into the definitive leader of the Tigers' defense, showcasing elite range and an improved ability to navigate the trenches despite being on the lighter side for an NFL linebacker.

Scouting Report

Strengths

  • Sideline-to-Sideline Range: Weeks is arguably the most athletic mover in the 2026 LB class. His Speed and Agility allow him to mirror RBs in space and chase down dual-threat QBs.

  • Tackling Volume: He has a "magnetism" for the football. His High Motor ensures he is involved in almost every play, leading to high-volume tackle production.

  • Zone Coverage Instincts: He understands spacing and passing lanes. He drops with safety-like fluidness and has the Footwork to flip his hips and run vertically.

  • Intangibles: A "coach on the field" with high Leadership grades. He is a vocal pre-snap communicator who keeps the defense aligned.

Weaknesses

  • Lack of Bulk: At 225 lbs, he is undersized. He can get engulfed by 310lb climbing guards and lacks the lower-body "thump" to stonewall power backs in the hole.

  • Block Deconstruction: While he is shifty, his Technique when taking on blocks head-on needs refinement. He often tries to run around blocks rather than taking them on with a punch.

  • Over-Aggression: His desire to be "first to the ball" occasionally leads to biting on eye-wash or misdirection, leaving his assigned gap vulnerable.

Scheme Fit: Ideal WILL Linebacker (Weakside) in a 4-3 system or a Sub-Package Dime LB.

NFL Comparison: Logan Wilson (Bengals) / Frankie Luvu

Scout’s Final Word & Projection

Intangibles: 19/20 | Physical Tools: 16/20 | Attributes: 18/20 | Athleticism: 20/20 | IQ: 18/20

Final Grade: 91/100

Whit Weeks is a modern-day "space defender." While he doesn't meet the prototypical 240lb weight requirement for a throwback middle linebacker, his elite Athleticism and Pursuit are exactly what NFL teams look for to counter modern spread offenses. He is a high-impact Star who creates turnovers and erases mistakes with his recovery speed. If he can add 10 lbs of functional muscle without losing his "twitch," he has Pro Bowl potential as a weakside playmaker.

Draft Projection: 2nd Round (Top 50 Pick)
